apple cherry soup

5 Cortland apples, peeled and cubed
3 pears, peeled and cubed
1 15-oz. can or 2 cups pitted sweet cherries
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 cup sugar

In a 6-quart pot place the apples, pears, cherries, cinnamon stick and sugar with enough water to cover. Simmer half covered for 40 minutes. Cool and refrigerate. Serve cold.
